CenturyLink Applauds Introduction of Broadband Mapping Bill

WASHINGTON, June 12, 2019 – CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) applauds U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Chairman Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and committee members Gary Peters (D-Mich.), John Thune (R-S.D.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) for introducing legislation that will encourage the federal government to create a new nationwide map of addressable broadband locations.

Wicker, Peters, Thune and Klobuchar for introducing the Broadband DATA Act that builds on CenturyLink’s efforts to create a more accurate picture of broadband availability as part of USTelecom’s Broadband Mapping Initiative proof of concept pilot,” said David Bartlett, CenturyLink vice president of federal government affairs. “A comprehensive, nationwide broadband map can help close the digital divide by providing policymakers with the granular, geocoded data they need to identify locations where broadband service is lacking, so we can make the most of limited government funding.”
