WASHINGTON, Aug. 10, 2021 – Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) announced today that Dave Young has taken on a newly created role as Senior Vice President, Strategic Sales and Zain Ahmed has been promoted to fill Young’s previous role as Senior Vice President, Public Sector. Young’s former Public Sector leadership team will now report to Ahmed.
Both Young and Ahmed will report to Ed Morche, President of the Lumen North American Enterprise and Public Sector team.
"I’m excited that Dave and Zain, two of our strongest sales leaders, are both taking on new roles that will position Lumen to grow our strategic enterprise and public sector business for years to come,” Morche said.
Young’s new role means leaders from the Lumen System Integrator, Global Hyperscaler, Digital Ventures and Indirect Sales groups will report to him. He has more than 30 years of experience in the technology and telecom sector playing a key role landing significant business that increases the company’s customer relationships and marketable solutions.
Ahmed’s new position entails leading a multifunctional customer-facing organization responsible for business development, capture management, program management and sales while being accountable for the Lumen Public Sector team’s overall market strategy and profitability.
The Lumen Public Sector encompasses the federal government, state and local government, military agencies, K-12 schools, research and education institutions, and public safety organizations.
Ahmed has 20 years of experience supporting government agencies with technology solutions. He previously served as Regional Vice President of the Lumen federal government business, which included overseeing the company’s civilian, special programs and U.S. Department of Defense sales.
