Lumen snags SD-WAN Product of the Year Award

The efforts Lumen made in 2020 to enhance its Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) service have not gone unnoticed. TMC, a global, integrated media company, recently awarded Lumen a 2021 Internet Telephony SD-WAN Product of the Year Award.

Lumen's global SD-WAN solutions support the secure, scalable and cost-efficient deployment and management of hybrid networks across a full range of connectivity types. Simply put – it’s a virtual network that makes the entire WAN environment much more intelligent and dynamic.

The Internet Telephony SD-WAN Product of the Year Awards are given to companies that demonstrate the innovation, vision, and execution to deliver software-based networking tools to support different and unique communities of interest. In 2020, Lumen enhanced its SD-WAN service in four big ways:

Expanded Portfolio – Lumen expanded its global SD-WAN footprint and added two new vendor platforms: VMware and Fortinet. These join Versa, and Cisco Meraki and Viptela. Lumen SD-WAN with VMware (formerly Velocloud) expands services to now include physical and virtual edge applications, cloud gateways and orchestration.
Integrated a Work From Home (WFH) solution – Lumen launched Remote Connect in June 2020, a WFH solution that provides a safe, virtual private connection from the home to a corporate WAN. Early this year, the company expanded that with the launch of Lumen SD-WAN, allowing customers to securely connect remote employees to corporate resources.
SD-WAN combined with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) – Allows for Network deployment into a cloud environment or universal Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE), along with other customer-managed software applications.
Better, integrated Service Level Agreements (SLAs) – Simplified managed services SLA tiers with increased levels of commitments.
