EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

We stand ready in the face of Hurricane Milton

We will continue monitoring the severe weather, and if anything changes, we will provide an update.

Updated October 14, 2024

Our teams are standing by and are well-prepared to respond to any service issues caused by Hurricane Milton. We’ve positioned key team members, field technicians, and equipment in locations that will allow us to respond quickly if needed.

Current media statement

Lumen technicians continue to assess and repair network damage in Florida following the hurricane. Generators are helping to keep Lumen services running in many locations where commercial power is still impacted. Our Metro Ethernet service has equipment in customer buildings that need power to operate. Those services will remain down until commercial power returns. Once restored, teams will look for any issues and if needed will send out repair teams, once it is safe to do so.

Post Landfall:

  • Field Operations teams are dispatching where they are safely able to in order to conduct initial damage assessments.
    • Following the necessary damage assessments, Field Operations will work closely with our Global Network Operations Center to begin resolving any high impact network outages.
    • Field Operations will also be prioritizing restoration of any TSP labeled circuits, as well as services for health & safety, and first responders.
  • The Critical Infrastructure team will be working closely with our Global Network Operations Center to respond accordingly to any site infrastructure needs.
    • Lumen's Critical Infrastructure team has implemented a refueling schedule for sites that are running on backup generators.
