Lumen climbs to 14 among Top 50 Employers for STEM Diversity

From number 47 in 2015 to number 14 in 2021, Lumen has been recognized for the seventh consecutive year as one of the Top Employers for STEM Workforce Diversity.

Randomly selected readers of STEM Workforce Diversity magazine chose the top U.S. employers for whom they would prefer to work or believe would provide a positive working environment for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) professionals who are members of minority groups, women and people with disabilities.

Supporting STEM and diversity

As a technology company whose purpose is to further human progress through technology, Lumen has been a strong supporter of STEM initiatives, including women in tech, while also fostering our culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging.

Lead Technical Program Manager Angela Cody said, "As women in technology, we have the opportunity to do things that have never been done before. In an area where gender inequality still exists, women in technology are the change agents for generations to come."

Manager Technology Architecture Palak Patel adds, "I have been fortunate in my career at Lumen to have mentors and leaders who have encouraged me to push the boundaries of my comfort zone and who have trusted my decisions in working with our internal and external customers. I also appreciate that these leaders encouraged me to speak up and provide input on decisions impacting the organization."

Climb to the top 15

This was Lumen's first year in the top 15. After its 2015 debut on the list, Lumen was ranked as follows: number 38 in 2016; number 20 in 2017; number 40 in 2018; number 31 in 2019; and number 29 in 2020.

The Top 50 Employers for STEM Workforce Diversity will be featured in the Summer 2021 edition of STEM Workforce Diversity magazine.
