CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) supports the open internet approach FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced today, issuing the following statement:

“Today’s announcement by Chairman Pai provides a long-sought-after solution to the problem of over-regulating the internet and helping the internet ecosystem continue to evolve to meet growing consumer demand.

CenturyLink will continue to support an open internet that allows our customers to access all the lawful content of their choice from any location or device. We will also continue to be transparent regarding the handling of traffic, customer privacy and customers’ internet experience.

Removing overly onerous Title II regulation is a logical first step forward that will encourage network investment. We look forward to reviewing the FCC’s open internet proposal and working with policymakers to put an end to the uncertainty that has plagued the open internet issue for years.”
