India Sylvester

India Sylvester is Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Lumen where she leads efforts to create a culture of inclusion and a sense of belonging for our diverse teams and clients across the global organization.

India partners with Lumen’s global business leaders and HR to develop and implement strategies, programs, policies, and metrics to draw, advance and preserve a diverse workforce. That diversity helps Lumen deliver amazing experiences to our clients around the world.

India is an accomplished leader. She has more than 20 years of experience in human resources and business operations, with a focus on culture shaping, talent and global diversity and inclusion.

She has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Valdosta State University and an MBA from Strayer University. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and is also a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

India believes creating a culture that embraces diversity, inclusion and belonging is a journey, saying, “Lumen’s stated purpose is furthering human progress through technology. That progress requires a team of experts, with a world of different views, experiences, and skills, working together to build a better and stronger company.”

India’s pursuit of change and self-betterment carries into her personal life as well, where she enjoys working on home improvement and renovation projects with her family.
